Gilbert Real Estate - Gilbert Homes
Located within the southeast valley of the Phoenix Metropolitan area, Gilbert was founded in 1891. Established on the property of
William “Bobby” Gilbert, Gilbert, AZ was Incorporated July 6, 1920, as a rail siding for the Arizona Eastern Railway. An agreement between landowner Gilbert and Frank Murphy produced the Phoenix and Eastern Railroad Company, Gilbert spur line and Gilbert Depot, creating the foundation for what is recognized today as the eighth fastest growing community in the nation.
Growing at a pace that is unparalled by most US communities, Gilbert’s population has increased from 5,717 in 1980 to over 215,000 in April 2009 and was ranked 16th among the 100 Best Places to Live in America by Money Magazine, in 2006.
Providing a major access route through the heart of Gilbert, the newly constructed Santan Freeway (202 Loop) is in close proximity to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (formerly Williams Gateway Airport) and ASU Polyechnic Campus and offers easy access to the rest of the metropolitan area. Creating diverse employment opportunities, major industrial/commercial projects continue to develop at a fast pace along the Santan freeway corridor. Also providing state-of-the-art medical care, holistic care alternatives and an increasing supply of medical offices, Gilbert is becoming one of the leading locations for healthcare in Greater Phoenix.
Gilbert offers many amenities to enhance the lifestyle of its residents, as it is segregated from the frantic pace of metropolitan Phoenix. All within walking distance to its neighborhoods, master planned communities include parks, pools, tennis courts, clubhouses, equestrian trails, fishing, boating, schools and local business services. Maintained by the Salt River Project and the Roosevelt Conservation District, miles of canal banks throughout the town provide paths for walking, running, biking and horseback riding. For the local golf enthusiasts, Kokopelli Golf Resorts and Trilogy Golf Club are two out of four golf courses Gilbert offers to the public. Over 25 courses are available within 15 minutes of Gilbert.
